Security & privacy
This page is maintained by the Paycheck Vault team to answer common security and privacy questions about the app. It describes how the app works today — it is not a certification, an audit report, or independent verification by any third party.
Account access
Every account is protected by email and password sign-in. There is no anonymous or shared access to money data.
Your bills, paychecks, savings entries, debts and side-income ideas are scoped to your account at the database level, so one account cannot read another account's rows.
What we store, and what we don't
We store only what you type in: bill names and amounts, paycheck amounts and dates, savings deposits, debt balances and APRs, and your plan settings.
Paycheck Vault does not connect to your bank and does not ask for account numbers, routing numbers, card numbers or Social Security numbers. Please don't put them in a bill or note field.
AI suggestions
When you tap for an AI suggestion, a summary of your own numbers (totals, due dates, balances) is sent to the AI model that generates the advice. Your email address and password are never included.
AI suggestions are generated on request only — nothing is sent when you are simply browsing your dashboard.
ChatGPT and other AI clients
Connecting Paycheck Vault to ChatGPT is optional. The connection uses OAuth: you sign in and explicitly approve access on a consent screen, and the connection acts as you, with the same per-account limits.
You can disconnect at any time from the AI client's connector settings, which stops its access to your data.
Retention and deletion
Your data stays as long as your account is open. Deleting a bill, paycheck, savings entry, debt or idea removes that record from the database.
If you want your whole account and all of its records removed, email us and we will delete them.
Shared responsibility
- The hosting platform runs the app servers and managed database, and provides the sign-in, storage and encrypted connections the app is built on.
- Paycheck Vault decides what data is collected, keeps access rules scoped per account, and answers privacy and deletion requests.
- You keep your password private, use a strong unique one, and only connect AI clients you trust.
